Here's the latest news from SuperstarPRO:
- After a highly successful show at Tokyo's R'n Hall, SuperstarPRO now looks forward to the biggest show in the short history of the promotion. As Jason Ramsey announced Saturday night, S-PRO will be holding a mammoth rally at the historic Korakuen Hall. No matches have been announced as of yet but we do know that the main event will feature Ramsey makign his return to the ring. We've been told by an inside source that Ramsey's aopponent could be announced this weekend! -
- The R'n Hall show also saw a new Iron Crown Heavyweight Champion. FLAME Akihiro defeated Dusty Griffith in a true David vs. Goliath battle. After the match, the new champion made a statement to the press:
"It is the honor of a lifetime to hold this championship, and to uphold the tradition and teaching of Tenchu-Do. I congratulate my opponent, Dusty Griffith, on his honorable championship reign and on an excellent match this evening. Let this be a signal to all those who feel that a lack of size is an issue. Winning this championship was a matter of heart, of endurance, and an iron will forged in the Iron Way."
"I can only hope to defend this championship with the same honor and fighting spirit as my predecessors, and I issue this challenge to all of Japan. I am now the top fighter of this land. I welcome any and all challengers for this championship. If you feel you have the heart and courage to wrest this title from me, I welcome your challenge."
Akihiro faces a dense field of challengers including Matsuo Akimichi, former champion Masahiro Sakamoto and possibly a re-match with Griffith just to name a few. We here at Newsline wish to congratulate the new Iron Crown Heavyweight Champion! -
- It appears Garret Bishop may extend his stay in the Pure Pro Wrestling promotion in the U.S. Bishop, who originally went over to lend support to Dusty Griffith who has been embroiled in a feud with the QB:K9's and former Iron Crown Tag Team Champions Team ELITE has accepted yet another booking, this time in singles competition. Bishop has stated for the record that so long as Griffith needs an ally, he will back his friend's play. -
- Masahiro Sakamoto made quite an impression at UPW's "Climb To The Summit" event, becoming one of the lat two men to be eliminated from the battle royal, and eliminating several men along the way. He didn't however manage meet C.J. Rowell in the ring as he had wished. Sakamoto stated that he would gladly make another trip to the U.S. to challenge the PPW Champion if ever the opportunity were to arise. -
- Jushin Shinjitsu brutalized rookie Kozan Harada on Saturday night and one man took serious offense. Oliver Silsbury, "The Birmingham Bomber" made a statement regarding the vicious encounter.
"What the hell was that supposed to prove? Harada is green as grass and Shinjitsu knew it. All he did was prove that he's still a goddamn bully with delusions of grandeur. If he wants to fight someone who'll bloody well hit him back, he knows where to find me." -
- Rumors continue to swirl around the S-PRO offices about the creation of new championship. While S-PRO officials are keeping quiet, we keep hearing rumors that a new title could become active in April. -
